From German sources (Prien, Geschichte des JG53) it is known that American fighters had attacked a train in the area northwest of Frankfurt(Taunus, area north of Wiesbaden) that day and that Fw. Guglberger (Bf 109 G-6, II./JG53) was engaged in a low-level dogfight with the fighters that attacked the train. Fw. Guglberger claimed to have Shot down two P-51s.
